Affordable Remote Access that Works
December 8, 2007 on 12:03 pm | In Business, Travel | No CommentsRemotePC.com has a free 30 day trial that is fully functional. I do not personally use any remote access program at this time, but I have in the past. Remote access to the PC that you are using to run a home business can be a Godsend when you are traveling. Even if the laptop that you travel with has room for all your business files, do you really want to be carrying all that important, private information around with you where it could easily get lost or stolen? The limitations and annoyances that I used to associate with the remote access I had three years ago are a thing of the past with RemotePC.com. You can expect to establish a connection in as little as 5 seconds. The tedious applet loading that I used to associate with remote use is not a issue with RemotePC.com. The service can even be used to have virtual meeting using the shared desktop feature.
Chicken
December 5, 2007 on 4:13 pm | In Low Carb Foods, Travel | No CommentsI am on holiday in Italy and I took this picture at a market.
Chicken is a part of the human diet in most parts of the world. The production of chicken and also eggs in the USA is a very streamlined and efficient agribusiness. I saw a documentary years ago that said that TYLER owned just about all the chickens in the country and that farmers were basically subcontractors.
I couldn’t help but notice that a recent promotion from the egg marketing board featured lots of happy farm families in golden lighting handling eggs. The 30 second television commercial did not feature a single frame showing a chicken. The animal welfare and animal rights people could not accuse them of presenting a false or misleading picture of the chickens that lay your eggs.
Hotel Guides
December 5, 2007 on 3:03 pm | In Travel | 1 CommentI am writing this blog post from a hotel room. We have definitely had better experiences with booking accommodations since the Internet came along. I am in Italy, but I decided to have a close look at a Canadian Hotel Guide for my review because I would be able to gauge how comprehensive and accurate the guides were by checking out a city where I have spent more time. HotelsByCity.net provided a long list of hotel rooms in response to my search for one night for two next week in Halifax.
I had the option to sort by price. Being the cheap person that I am, I did this. I am glad that the site includes descriptions. One of the best deals was for a hotel that is out in an inconveniently located industrial park. If you were going to the city to soak up the history and culture, you would not like this room. The savings would be eaten up in bus and cab fares quite quickly.
The Marriott downtown on Salter Street would be a much better choice. There was a film production company named after this little street in the heart of the historic waterfront area of Halifax. It’s most noteworthy film was Bowling For Columbine. American companies were reluctant to cooperate with Michael Moore on this film.
I got a bit sidetracked there, sorry. I should mention that this hotel is near the famous weekend farmer’s market that it housed in a former brewery
