A Loans and Finance Portal
January 16, 2008 on 4:13 pm | In Life, Money | 2 CommentsI must be suffering from television deprivation. When I started reading up for my review of this portal of information and guidance with regard to unsecured loans and other finance products, I got the concept of time portals stuck in my head.
The direction and speed at which time progresses is something that we cannot negotiate in any way when we are applying for a loan. Actually, I think that the finance industry is preventing humans from inventing a viable time machine. Think about it… would you lend a guy the money that he would need to get a time machine up and running? If it didn’t work, you will probably have to get in line behind all his other creditors when he goes bankrupt. If it did work, he would go back in time to a moment several years before you made the loan. He would have the paperwork with him and he would pay you back MINUS the interest that had come off the loan as he traveled back through time. After that he would buy a winning lottery ticket and some Microsoft shares and head on back to the post Wii time period to live happily ever after.
That’s enough fantasy for one blog post. Back in the world of reality, there are lots of variables that we can compare when we are looking for a loan. Loans.Online-Finance.net has a web based loan calculator that can make comparing your options quite a bit easier. If worked outside the home in the last couple of decades, you probably know at least one person that has made use of Debt Consolidation. The first person that comes to my mind was still in his early twenties when he hit the wall of debt. Why did they make credit cards so easy to obtain? Anyway, he was making a moderate and steady income and when I knew him, he was on track to climbing out of debt.
These days, according to loans.online-finance.net, you can get an unsecured loan even if you have bad credit. You can use a basic unsecured loan as a way of consolidating your credit card debts. Unsecured loans for people with bad credit are typically fairly high interest, but the difference between that inters and what you are charged by credit card companies can make a big difference in how many months or years it will take to get out of debt.
When TV News Makes Nice
January 13, 2008 on 1:38 pm | In Diet, Media, Internet, Money, Business, Health, Weight Loss | 1 CommentIsagenix is a cleansing product that is marketed by a company based in Chandler, Arizona.
You would get whiplash if you were to watch this video of ABC and its coverage of the product right after watching KTLA’s coverage of the Kimkins fraud. I am not disparaging Isagenix. I am sure they have all their ducks in a row as far as the FDA and the FTC are concerned. I do get the impression that the consumer report is really a sales pitch. If the three people on the video like to think of themselves as journalists, they must stop off somewhere after work for a few ounces of soul cleanser. The tone of the anchor man is the same tone that Ryan Seacrest uses when he says something heterosexual.
The television footage was uploaded by what appears to be an affiliate for the product.
Will DNA Testing Keep Us Honest ?
January 12, 2008 on 10:55 pm | In Marketing, Shopping, Money, Business | No CommentsDNA testing isn’t just for things like paternity tests. Every living creature has DNA. Over a decade ago, I heard about a scientist who was doing contract work for the police and the department of wildlife confirming their suspicions about restaurants selling illegally obtained deer meat from poachers. This same biologist decided to test ground meats at grocery stores. He found out that many local stores were adding lots of meat from chickens and pigs into the ground beef. His findings were met with promises of stricter adherence to standards. I can imagine that people with allergies or religious dietary restrictions were put off by this report.
More recently, animal welfare groups took hair samples from faux fur trim on some of the coats in the boutiques. That seems silly doesn’t it? Faux fur doesn’t have any DNA. Well, they actually found quite a few samples of faux fur that DID have DNA. You may remember that Diddy got some embarrassing press when they found out that his parkas had fur from ‘raccoon dogs.’
Raccoon dogs are not domestic dogs, they are a wild animal that are raised in large number in captivity in Asia and they live and die under very inhumane conditions.
DNA testing has the potential to expose and hopefully prevent a lot of unethical business practices. I suspect that there are still all kinds of people out there who say ‘Who’s Gonna know?’ on a daily basis.
Save on Printer Ink and Cartridges
January 11, 2008 on 6:15 pm | In Life, Money, Business | 1 CommentIt’s quite appropriate for me to be writing a post about printer ink cartridges this week. We have been trying to save money by buying those generic refill kits with the hypodermic needles and the syringes and the complicated instructions. I think yesterday was about the fifth time that I have done the procedure and I experienced a minor accident. I was using a new kit with a larger needle than the previous one. I had mistakenly assumed that the air inside the empty ink cartridge had some kind of escape route. As it turned out, I had been unwittingly loading an ink bomb with ink and highly pressurized air. The little black dots are very small. I think I managed to clean them all from the desk… and the wall… and my glasses
These kits are the cheapest of three options. Buying compatible cartridges is easier and you still save a lot when compared to brand name replacements. You get what you pay for to some extent. If you have a pricey all in one printer, you might not want to void your warranty.
InkjetDeal.info is a great site for finding deals on both brand name and compatible cartridges. I have a Canon Printer. The actual Canon cartridges are kinda pricey. InkjetDeal.info has links to stores that have lower prices for these and they also point to sites that sell compatible stuff at a fraction of the cost. Coupon codes for printer cartridges allow you to save even more.
Mortgages and Loans
January 9, 2008 on 11:52 am | In Life, Money | 1 CommentI’m going to talk a little bit about a site that has tools that help you to compare mortgages and loans, but first I want to recount a horrible story that I read while I was researching the subject of mortgages. A judge in California is being criticized because he allowed a man who had been convicted of two violent acts against his estranged wife to walk away. The judge granted Curtis “Keno” Harris a one month reprieve so he could sell some assets and make some mortgage payments before he was to begin his 16 month sentence. But mortgages were apparently not the first thing on this man’s mind. He used his freedom to abduct his wife and perpetrate a murder/suicide.
If you are looking to get a mortgage or refinance your debt, sites like BeatThatQuote.com have some advantages. Quotes obtained from lenders by these sites will often be more competitive than what you might get from the same institutions if you were to walk into their offices.
Santa Sends a Bill in January…
January 9, 2008 on 8:06 am | In Life, Money | 1 CommentChristmas shopping was fairly low key this year. I guess that’s a bad thing if you are in retail. With times being what they, are I don’t think there were many people who were inclined to get a loan so that they could play Santa more effectively. I’m sure that some of us ran up the bills on our credit cards in celebration of the birth of the baby Jesus. Those credit card bills will be arriving in the mail soon if they haven’t already. I make a point of not adding up the total cost of Christmas. Like I said, we didn’t go overboard.
The Cost of Dieting
January 7, 2008 on 3:45 pm | In Media, Life, Diet, Money, Health | 2 CommentsABC put together an interesting news piece about the cost of dieting. It’s kind of ironic that so many people pay a premium for systems that reduce their caloric intake. Programs that include special packaged foods are some of the most expensive diets. Atkins is a plan that does not require branded foods, but they have lots of them on the market.
I was surprised to read that some plans increase the family food bill by way of increasing the volume of condiments and spices. This effect can often be offset by the fact that reduced portions mean buying less overall.
This is a historic moment for this blog as I present my first actual cooking tip… I regularly make applesauce for the kids by boiling down cored and quartered apples with the peelings on them. After I squeeze the sauce through a colander, the peels become a relatively low carb treat with just a few drops of cream and some cinnamon ![]()
Online Loans
January 6, 2008 on 11:23 am | In Money, Business | 2 CommentsIf you are in the midst of comparing different providers of Online Loans, you might want to consider looking at loans.online-finance.net. They have a review and rating table for a selection of the ‘top’ lenders right at the top of their homepage. The ratings are all pretty high, five out of five stars for all but one of the loan providers. The reviews don’t go into much detail. When a consumer is comparing loans, the actual cost of borrowing is going to be the key factor that they use for making a comparison. These online loan comparison and review sites hardly ever have this information. I think that this is partly because the actual rates and terms are always subject to change. Also, they are a marketing tool for the lenders as much as they are a comparison tool for the borrowers. The biggest benefits to borrowers from a site like loans.online-finance.net are the various tools and calculators and the convenient layout of general information related to the different types of loans.
PERSONAL LOANS | PAYDAY LOANS | CREDIT CARDS | AUTO LOANS | DEBT CONSOLIDATION
The above list shows all the different categories of credit products that are reviewed by loans.online-finance.net. The credit cards that are reviewed might be the most useful products. I think that the importance of having a credit card for various transactions that are carried out online has caused the market to grow and also to become more competitive. Cards that are easy to get, but that have very limited credit are offered by a number of lenders. If you are 18 years old and you have a valid Social Security Number and a valid address in the U.S., you can get a gold Master Card. The initial credit won’t even be $100. As with all the review and ratings on the site, all the credit card companies get four or five stars. There are a couple of reviews that talk about rates. 9.75% APR sounds pretty enticing, but you have to look carefully at the details of any agreement. The rate for cash advances is more than twice that.
A Remedy For Your Car Insurance Woes
January 4, 2008 on 5:42 pm | In Money | 1 CommentI learned something new today. I knew that every state in the USA had some kind of minimum requirement for insuring automobiles. The detail of which I was unaware was the wide range of requirements between states as far a coverage amounts. What is even more shocking is the range of penalties for not having proof of insurance when you are asked to present it at an accident or at a checkpoint. In some states you might be lucky enough to only be out $100, while in other states you might face an entire year in jail. To my mind, the penalties are beside the point, because driving without insurance is just plain stupid. I know of a few people who argue that there should just be a blanket law against stupid.
When you get a car insurance quote from one nationwide insurance company, you could very well be paying too much. With AutoInsuranceremedy.com you can fill out one simple form and their experts will get back to you with as many as eight quotes. They take into account exactly what the requirements are for your state. The folks who operate AutoInsuranceremedy.com have over ten years of experience and they work with over 1000 insurers and agents. They can find anyone a low priced policy that will meet their local requirements.
Kimkins is Selling Stuff
December 28, 2007 on 6:45 pm | In Money, Kimkins | 2 CommentsDo you want a BowFlex? How about a soup’n’salad storage unit? Impulse buyers should flock to the Kimkins blog, because she has tricked her blog out as an affiliate site for Amazon. I don’t fault her for it, and I have tried the Amazon aStore model myself. It has never paid me even a cent. I have never had a blog with traffic like Kimkins. Maybe she will make a bit of pocket money. I have a brother who owns a BowFlex and I though it was pretty cool.
