The Cost of Obesity
July 18, 2008 on 7:09 am | In Life, Food, Diet, Exercise, Health, Money, Weight Loss | No CommentsI was almost going to write a post with some lame jokey title referencing giant peaches, because of this article about the obesity rate in Georgia. As I read the article, I came to realize that the state wasn’t a standout in the statistics, there are a few with worse numbers.
The estimate of the COST of obesity is worth commenting on. The seven figure Kimkins scam is small potatoes compared to the $2.1 BILLION that State officials have estimated obesity costs Georgia every year. I haven’t formed a solid opinion on this type of statistic. I would be interested to see what other people have to say.
Why the Lack of Fascination with Kimkins?
May 27, 2008 on 5:55 pm | In Internet, Diet, Life, Media, Money, Business, Kimkins Fraud, Kimkins, Kimkins Lawsuits, Weight Loss, Kimmer | 1 CommentThe wheels of justice turn slowly. Fortunately for Heidi Diaz, the core demographic that she defrauded grew up watching Sesame Street and have a short attention span as a result.
That may be an exaggeration, but there certainly is less going on on the blogosphere. A result in the proceedings will probably get some people talking for awhile, maybe even the media. Personally, I think the media is done with this human drama.
Do You Have a Great Restaurant Idea?
March 27, 2008 on 7:59 pm | In Diet, Money, Health, Business | No CommentsI am married to a fantastic cook who spent years working in the restaurant trade. We won’t be opening any restaurants because we know how much work and how much risk is involved. That being said, the idea still entices us from time to time. Usually it is when we eat somewhere that is doing something almost but not quite right.
If you have a burning desire to open up a restaurant, be sure that you don’t bite off more than you can chew. Restaurant Funding from Advance Restaurant Finance is kinda self explanatory, but I think using a sector specific finance company might help you avoid some of the common pitfalls. And you will need money, too.
A Complete Loan Source
March 14, 2008 on 3:56 pm | In Money | No CommentsDespite readin the various terrifying news items about the credit industry on news sites almost every day, life goes on. We will still find ourselves in need of Car Loans and Personal Loans from time to time. If you have never used the internet as a resource for loan shopping, you are doing yourself a disservice.
Do as your momma told you and shop around, but consider checking out CompleteLoanSource.com first. If you go to their landing page you will see that they have 1285 words that reads like Loans 101.
I think credit is one of the only things that I haven’t bought on the internet and that is bound to change someday. I generally look around at online sources to get some perspective before heading out to the bricks and mortar places.
Unbiased, a Definition
January 31, 2008 on 11:50 pm | In Money, Blogging, Marketing, Business, Kimkins Affiliates, Kimkins Fraud, Kimkins Criticism, Kimkins, Kimkins Diet | 2 CommentsMost people with a reasonable amount of education and experienced already know what unbiased means. I am not claiming to be unbiased. If you were to Google the word ‘Kimkins’ you would see the word unbiased, which means free from favoritism or self-interest, describing Kimkins Review, the affiliate that to this date still publishes the fraudulent 198lb weight loss claim made by Heidi Diaz.
I think that affiliates have an undeniable self-interest. I have no problem with the concept of affiliate marketing, but those who do it well don’t lie. The best way to sell something is to actually believe that it is a good product and that your readers will benefit from buying it. I think many of us could name a small handful of people who put their names behind Kimkins when they believed that she was an actual weight loss success and then quickly put Kimkins behind them when they found out (or in some cases strongly suspected) the truth.
Drive South with the One You Love
January 31, 2008 on 11:24 pm | In Real Estate, Life, Money, Travel | No CommentsI read about some really nasty weather in the USA today. I hope all of my readers are safe and warm.
If you have retirement income or maybe you have figured out a way to make money online, you may think a little harder about heading south when the snow starts piling up. Grab an extra blanket and spend some time perusing these Panama Real Estate Listings. Panama is negotiating a free trade agreement with the USA. The real estate market is booming, so homes can potentially be a lucrative investment. Oh, and it’s warm there. Chicago does not have a style of short pants named after it. Oh wait, that’s Bermuda. Panama has a hat.

Between a Rock and Hard Cash
January 30, 2008 on 6:53 pm | In Money | No CommentsI am not going to try to blow smoke up anyone’s butt with regard to lending practices. For the most part, banks and credit card companies will figuratively beat a path to your door as long as you look good on paper and make all your payments on time. If, however, you have hit a rough patch or two, you may have to look for loans high and low. By high I mean the interest…and by low I mean your chances of approval.
I think the Internet has helped consumers overall with regard to finding their best options for secured loans and other lending products. If you compare credit cards on a site like BeatThatQuote.com you are seeing terms that are offered by lenders who are in direct head to head competition with each other. You do have to read the terms of each offer VERY carefully. Loan marketing is getting to be a bit like car sales. The companies are trying to get consumers to focus on the one number that they are competitive with, while sneaking in various charges and limitations in the small print. The internet can make comparing loans quick and simple, but in the end, you have to look closely to avoid paying more than you expected in interest and fees.
Bad Credit
January 28, 2008 on 6:47 pm | In Money | No CommentsIf you have bad credit in this day and age, you might not want to start a discussion about it on Wall Street. It would seem that the world of finance is placing the blame for the failing economy squarely on the shoulders of the regular Joe. You know him, he’s the guy who took out a subprime mortgage a few years ago so his kids could have a big yard to play in. Joe could barely afford to make his mortgage payments, and when his job at Acme Gadgets went to some kid in Timbuktu, he had no choice but to default. Joe didn’t mess up the economy. The countless thousands of Joes were just being good little consumers like they were told. If you are Joe, you may want to peruse the lending products available at CreditLoan.com.
Success and Frustration
January 25, 2008 on 9:56 pm | In Diet, Media, Money, Health, Weight Loss, Weight Loss Surgery | 1 CommentI came stumbled upon an interesting weight loss story today. First off, let me direct you to a page that converts ’stone’, a ridiculous and archaic measure of weight, into pounds, a somewhat less ridiculous and archaic measure of weight.
That will help when you read the dramatic weight loss story. The sad part is that the man who lost so much weight cannot afford plastic surgery and he has an arguably debilitating amount of loose flapping skin. His mother sold her house to pay for his gastric bypass surgery. He would probably be dead now had he stayed at his astoundingly large size.
A Resource Site For People With Bad Credit
January 17, 2008 on 6:03 pm | In Money | 2 CommentsThe demand for bad credit loans is increasing. That means that, at least to some extent, it is a buyers market. Well, not really, but with competition comes better service and sometimes better rates. It helps to use a resource like BadCreditOffers.com when you are comparing the different lenders.
Auto loans are something that many of us have to get so that we can get reliable transportation to our jobs so we can make money, so we can make our loan payments. I wish I knew enough about coding and web design to make a bunch of sentences go around in a circle. Anyway, some car dealers take unfair advantage of those with bad credit. You are better off shopping around for credit and buying from a reputable car dealer.
