Clothing For the Troops

January 24, 2008 on 4:59 pm | In Life | No Comments

The men and women who serve and protect us in the army and in police forces sometimes have clothing requirements that exceed that which is provided them. The government really should provide adequate military clothing and you have to question what kind of bad ethics and/or incompetence is behind the under-supply, but you can’t wear should.

It is equally sad to read that there are companies out there that manufacture and sell shoddy gear to soldiers. BDU.com is not one of these.

BDU.com is an online resource that has clothing made to the highest standards including the popular Propper tactical pants. These are the preferred garment of both military and police.

Prime Dating Sites

January 23, 2008 on 4:11 pm | In Life | 1 Comment

Prime Dating Sites is an informative site that reviews and compares the most popular dating and matchmaking sites. These days, a dating service can range from a very casual browsing experience to a very scientific process to determine compatibility. It is hard to say which strategy is right for you. If you believe in fate, you might want to try surfing through the profiles on Lavalife. According to Prime Dating Sites, Lavalife allows users to jump in with both feet and get busy checking people out and being checked out. Smiling at each other is free, just like at McDonald’s or elsewhere in real life. A smile is just an indication that you approve of someone’s profile. If you want to communicate through email or instant message, you have to become a paid member. Lavalife has a huge membership, so it is quite likely that there are a number of people in your vicinity. The catch with sites that are popular and free is that it will be populated with a large proportion of jerks who will waste your time or worse.

You might be better off spending your time filling out an extensive questionnaire on a site like eHarmony. The eHarmony review on Prime Dating Sites states that it is only for heterosexual single people who have marriage as a life goal. There is no way to participate in this matchmaking for free, but lots of people rave about how well the process has worked for them. There are undoubtedly fewer jerks on eHarmony.

Can Dr. Marty Tashman of YourMarriageCounselor.com Help You?

January 23, 2008 on 10:56 am | In Life, Health | No Comments

While checking out YourMarriageCounselor.com, I found a list of what a researcher and author describes as the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse with regard to marriage. They are criticism, contempt, defensiveness and stonewalling. I doubt that anyone who has been married for any length of time has ever managed to avoid either riding or being trampled by some or all of these horses. If you are searching for counseling, there is hope.

Dr. Marty Tashman is the face of YourMarriageCounselor.com and he thinks that positive change should occur during the very first session of counseling. He is not suggesting that every marriage can be saved. He specializes in short term counseling and also in counseling couples where on member of the couple is dealing with an addiction.

Relationship difficulties are often an unfortunate side effect of dramatic weight loss. I did a very quick bit of research to see if experts agreed with my observations. There are lots of experts saying that people who lose a lot of weight often have marital difficulties and that there are several very different reasons for this. I could start a whole new blog on the subject. Or I could write a book.

We are gathered here today to read a brief blog post about the marriage of web 2.0 social media and those wedding cameras that are given to reception guests for capturing candid shots from unique vantage points. Now, this service does all the work of creating a secure online album for all your guests to enjoy. For the couple with more than enough to worry about, this is one aspect of the affair that couldn’t be easier.

Baby Slings

Slinglings are a brandname baby sling. I like the idea of a baby sling. They help people form a close bond with their child. You can even get organic cotton slings that are the best choice for the environment of any baby carrying device.

This kind of child transporting device has been in use for a long time in many cultures. The key advantages of the sling for modern lifestyles are basically the disadvantages of carriages. You don’t have to deal with folding up a carriage and putting it in the trunk of your car. Your baby is close to you at all times. Once you are proficient in the safe use of a sling, you have your hands free.

I Missed It :(

This blogger has been AFK for some R&R, FYI. The lack of commentary of the story about Kimkins on Good Morning America was not intentional.

It goes without saying that everybody else is talking about it. I don’t know that much about the reach and popularity of this television show. I am not a morning person. Lets hope it will serve as a warning to some of those January dieters.

A Loans and Finance Portal

January 16, 2008 on 4:13 pm | In Life, Money | 4 Comments

I must be suffering from television deprivation. When I started reading up for my review of this portal of information and guidance with regard to unsecured loans and other finance products, I got the concept of time portals stuck in my head.

The direction and speed at which time progresses is something that we cannot negotiate in any way when we are applying for a loan. Actually, I think that the finance industry is preventing humans from inventing a viable time machine. Think about it… would you lend a guy the money that he would need to get a time machine up and running? If it didn’t work, you will probably have to get in line behind all his other creditors when he goes bankrupt. If it did work, he would go back in time to a moment several years before you made the loan. He would have the paperwork with him and he would pay you back MINUS the interest that had come off the loan as he traveled back through time. After that he would buy a winning lottery ticket and some Microsoft shares and head on back to the post Wii time period to live happily ever after.

That’s enough fantasy for one blog post. Back in the world of reality, there are lots of variables that we can compare when we are looking for a loan. Loans.Online-Finance.net has a web based loan calculator that can make comparing your options quite a bit easier. If worked outside the home in the last couple of decades, you probably know at least one person that has made use of Debt Consolidation. The first person that comes to my mind was still in his early twenties when he hit the wall of debt. Why did they make credit cards so easy to obtain? Anyway, he was making a moderate and steady income and when I knew him, he was on track to climbing out of debt.

These days, according to loans.online-finance.net, you can get an unsecured loan even if you have bad credit. You can use a basic unsecured loan as a way of consolidating your credit card debts. Unsecured loans for people with bad credit are typically fairly high interest, but the difference between that inters and what you are charged by credit card companies can make a big difference in how many months or years it will take to get out of debt.

AWDiamonds.com is holding a poetry contest and the winner will receive one of their exquisite loose diamonds. A heart shaped diamond would make a great Valentine’s gift. All the submitted poems will be published on the website and to qualify, they must be original and unpublished. In the interests of good poetry, I want to advise readers that violets are NOT blue, they are violet.

AcuraHeadlights.com: One Headlight Related Website

January 16, 2008 on 11:34 am | In Life | 3 Comments

There is a wealth of practical information and Acura Headlight Reviews on acuraheadlights.com. I have been meeting more and more cars on the road these
days with after market headlights. It is a really great way to express your individuality. I thing there are about a dozen cars within a three mile radius that are the same model and color as mine. I actually opened the door of another guy’s car in a parking lot one day because I thought it was mine. A few guys that are in the same boat have taken different approaches to making their one of a dozen into one of a kind. The cars are white. One guy added a red pinstripe. Another guy put in a set of aftermarket fog lamps. One guy painted his engine bonnet black, I think he may have done that to reduce glare.

AcuraHeadlights.com has been pretty upfront about the fact that the DOT and some local governments regulate against some aftermarket light kits. Its not against the law to buy and sell them, but if you are using them on the street and a policeman is in a ticket writing mood, your HID kit might end up costing you a little extra. Lots of other lighting modifications are allowed by law and many of them are easy to install.

Is Your Check Engine Light On?

January 15, 2008 on 3:51 pm | In Life | 1 Comment

I have a few stories about the ever popular Check Engine Light. During a stressful day of attempted car buying a few years ago, one test drive was very short because when I asked about the lit up Check Engine light, I was told that “Oh, they all do that after they hit a certain number of miles…”

Yeah… Right…

Another incident involved me taking a car to a garage that is part of a national service chain after the light came on. They used a diagnostic computer and told me that I needed a new thermostat and an electronic sensor that monitored air pressure. I forget what it is called, but it was like a $15 part that you could install yourself. The thermostat replacement was expensive. The rest of the story involves me driving home and having the engine light come back on before I even get there. My local mechanic ran the diagnostic and told me that the sensor was no good. I was looking over his shoulder and I pointed out that the readout also said that the thermostat was bad. He told me that it was a false reading, when this sensor is bad, it always says that the thermostat is bad. I was not happy. Later that week, I walked into the chain store with the part in my hand and got a new one.

These are both relatively old stories. I wish the had affordable technology like the Personal Mechanic back then. This device is designed for car owners as a first response to their check engine light. It is a hand held device that you can use to get information from your cars onboard computer and then walk into your house and transfer it to your PC via a convenient USB connector. It’s a great little device, I know several people who would love to have one.

I will finish this up by advising my readers to always be sure that they properly close the gas cap on their car because having is improperly sealed can actually trigger your check engine light.
