Fat Loss For Idiots ?
January 9, 2008 on 2:54 pm | In Life, Marketing, Diet, Exercise, Health, Internet, Weight Loss | 2 CommentsI have been seeing promotion for FatLoss4Idiots.com all over the Internet.
The copy on the about page for this website is critical of low carb dieting. It is not very clear what exactly they are selling. At one point they call it the future of smart weight loss.
Why market smart weight loss to idiots? The company that owns the site, Internet Made Simple, is associated with Clickbank. Selling stuff to idiots is what they do. The information in the weight loss eBook may be useful, but I am not going to buy it to find out.
Do You Have an Online Business Idea?
January 4, 2008 on 12:50 pm | In eBooks, Diet, Exercise, Internet, Health, Fashion, Business | 1 CommentMaking money by selling a product, a service or information through an eStore is not rocket science. The first thing that you have to do is find or create the thing that people will want to pay for. This is hard for some people because they undervalue their product or because they pessimistically conclude that there is no market. When you figure out what you want to sell and you figure out how to pitch it to potential customers, you are essentially ready to build a store.
You don’t have to reinvent the wheel when it comes time to launch a store, you just decide on which shopping cart software you want and then have it installed on your site. Americommerce.com is an industry leader in shopping cart software and their version 4.3 is loaded with great features. The One Page Checkout will be appreciated by your customers. Drop Shipping Support can be a great feature. I know of someone who was marketing liquid sucralose and she used drop shipping straight from the manufacturer. It was convenient and efficient.
The newest software also has a new and improved focus on Customer Relations Management. Having the optimal relationship with your customers is a key to success. I have attended seminars on the topic and I heard time and time again that energy spent in retaining a customer and keeping them happy was a better investment than energy spent searching for new customers
Small Changes
January 4, 2008 on 12:04 pm | In Life, Diet, Exercise, Health | 1 CommentI am thinking of giving up one particular foodstuff that is convenient, delicious and economical. These aren’t reasons to forsake it, the reason is the saturated fat content. I am presently trying to maintain my current weight. I have been a part of so many family chats about blood cholesterol in recent months that I am thinking that I should make proactive changes to my diet before I bite the bullet and go to get a test.
I am embarrassed to admit that I have never had my blood cholesterol tested. The people that sell cholesterol tests say that everyone over 20 should have regular tests. The AHA is advocating public screenings. Getting a test is easy, but I have been putting it off for years. I am writing this post as a way of pushing myself to do it.
January Dieters and Exercisers
January 3, 2008 on 5:46 pm | In Diet, Exercise, Health | 1 CommentThe New Year inspires people to try to change their behavior in positive ways. I saw three guys running as I walked back from the store. Walking to the store is not a January resolution for, it is actually closer to my door than my car. If these guys had been running towards me instead of away from me, I would have wished them a Happy New Year. I didn’t notice any new faces this morning when I was buying fresh fruit and vegetables from a local merchant. There may have been less candy and chips in the shopping carts than usual, but people might still have stock at home. Anyway, I wish good luck to anybody who is resolving to make positive changes in the new year ![]()
Diet.com on YouTube: Haters Hate it
December 28, 2007 on 8:05 pm | In Exercise, Internet | 1 CommentIt is so sad that overweight people are considered to be such an easy target. There are enough haters on YouTube to go around, but fat people tend to get a disproportionate amount of attention. The promoters of Diet.com were wise to moderate all comments on their YouTube videos. When I first noticed this practice, I thought that it was kinda like censorship, but I have decided that it is justified after seeing some of the senseless comments on other videos. I made a positive comment on the video below and it is pending approval.
A Vacation From Weight Loss
December 27, 2007 on 5:42 pm | In Diet, Exercise, Health, Travel, Weight Loss | No CommentsDieting and vacationing are not always a perfect fit. This is especially true when you are a tourist and you want to experience a foreign culture as much as possible. Many cultures are defined by their foods to some degree. My suggestion for vacations is to loosen up the restrictions on our diet and make a point of increasing your activity by doing more walking and less riding in cabs, or whatever conveyance they might have in the exotic locale that you have chosen. You may also find that restaurants that cater to tourists will have a platter that features a selection of local specialties. Consider splitting one platter between two or three people.
If you are counting pennies as well as calories, another tip is to keep your eye out for local housewives with shopping baskets, follow them to find the real sources of affordable food. Local markets selling bulk foods allow for better portion control than restaurants and they will save you money.
Exercise Options
December 16, 2007 on 5:58 pm | In Exercise, Health, Kimkins Criticism | No CommentsOne of the key statements used to promote Kimkins in the past was…
My favorite part? No exercise needed! Yes, you heard me right! None!
You won’t find that statement on the present landing page, but exercise is not promoted as an important part of a healthy weight loss plan. I personally think that short but regular walks are a great option for everyone. You don’t have to take long walks on the beach or park A couple of trips around an average size mall will do the trick. If you are a problem shopper, consider a routine that involves going to the mall in the early morning before the stores are open.
Christmas Gift Idea: Skis
December 13, 2007 on 5:17 pm | In Exercise, Shopping, Health | No CommentsOne of my most memorable gifts from my parents was a set of Rossignol skis. We lived in the country on a farm. Our house was at the top of a fairly big hill. I had lots of chances to use those skis. One day I lost control and ended up on an icy patch that was going down towards the trees. I made the decision to fall. My binding broke on one of my skis. At least my leg didn’t break. They were Nordic skis.
I think my parents had to make a couple of trips to the town 30 miles away to order and pick up my skis back 20 years ago. These days you can order sports equipment online from stores like ChristySports.com. They have free shipping by UPS on orders over $75.
The also have link that you can use to check the snow conditions at hills all over North America.
