Great Priced Furniture

March 18, 2008 on 7:53 pm | In Decor | No Comments

I just finished reading a great guide to buying home office furniture. It was on a retail furniture site called Great Priced Furniture. We have ended up with a mismatched bunch of computer desks and task chairs in out household. We did exactly what the article says people do, we over-economized when we were first buying office furniture. At least we are able to hand down our cheapest desks to the kids. We have had to wheel a few really cheap task chairs out to the garage.

Great Priced Furniture has a very wide range of office chairs. My suggestion to anyone buying office furniture for the first time is to get stuff that is just a little bit better than you think you deserve.

Hooker Furniture

I have hear of Shaker furniture before, but up until today, I had never heard of hooker furniture. Hooker is actually a company name and they have been in business for 83 years. That means they started building fine furniture 50 years before the term hooker appeared in the title of a famous movie that was not about furniture making.

Great Priced Furniture is a website where you can search for the perfect pieces of furniture to suit your taste and lifestyle. Hooker furniture has responded to the popularity of large plasma screen televisions by making entertainment consoles that have classic styling, but with dimensions that are updated to match these larger televisions.

Another great furniture builder is Stanley. You should check out their Young America line. I really like the trundle beds.

Great Window Blinds

If you have ever watched an episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and noticed some Window Blinds that you really liked, this might interest you. SelectBlinds.com supplies that popular show with window treatments. Ty Pennington, the host of the show, likes the products and the service so much, that he had them outfit his own home.

I personally like the natural woven wood window treatments. There are several beautiful options. This picture shows a few of them…

You can order free samples of many of the products that are featured on SelectBlinds.com. The show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition likes to surprise families. In the real reality, most of us don’t like surprises.

Affordable Fabric

fabric.JPGDesign Diva Fabrics is an eStore that features
an extensive line of discount Kravet fabric.
This line of fabrics has something for everybody.
There is a Southwestern Embroidered Denim fabric
that would be perfect for a boys room. You could
use it for Bedding and Drapery and the leftovers might
inspire you to make a denim suit for a favorite teddy
bear. The Kravet Couture “Cameron” Grand Floral
Cotton Sateen is a much more formal and
feminine pattern. Using high quality floral fabric
to decorate the master bedroom is very
satisfying. Saving lots of money is even more
satisfying. The typical retail price for this pattern
is $122.60/yard but it is available from Design
Diva Fabrics for $49.99/yard
or even $37.50/yard when it is on sale.

Custom Conservatory Design

Sunrooms and conservatories are popular additions to homes. They can be a place for those of us with a green thumb to create their own private jungle. Alternatively, you can furnish your sunroom so that it is a relaxing place to soak up the sun and watch the great outdoors.

Custom Conservatory Design like that provided by Tanglewood Conservatories will result in a much better result than any of the prefab items that are on the market. There is nothing prefabricated about Tanglewood Conservatories. They come and inspect the proposed building site before the design process begins. They build from the ground up with the finest materials. This company had the honor of building a couple of special conservatories at the Rockefeller Center for a recent flower show. These classically styled buildings were 20 feet high and the glass roofs were specially designed to diffuse the existing city lighting.

I think that one of the greatest things about a project like a conservatory is that they lend themselves to a departure from the architectural styles that surround them. If you have always had a passion for Georgian architecture, but your family home is of some other style, nobody is going to bat an eyelid when they see a glass observatory taking shape in your yard. I am sure the experienced planners at Tanglewood Conservatories have some helpful suggestions with regard to what work best both in terms of style and substance. I was pleasantly surprised to read that they use carefully engineered modern door hardware that locks securely at several points. I think this is worth mentioning because home invaders often look at the cheaper versions of sunrooms as a weak point with regard to security.
