Search Engine De-optimization of Kimkins Review
December 17, 2007 on 3:16 pm | In Blogging, Internet, Business, Kimkins Affiliates | No Comments
If you were to go to Google and do a web search for Kimkins, the highest ranking affiliate site would be KimkinsReview.com. I do not know if the owner of this website is still getting checks from Heidi, but the site is probably still generating the occasional sale. Most other high ranking affiliates were quick to see the disadvantages inherent in doing business with Heidi Diaz when various facts came to light. Some even left without having to see proof. The author of KimkinsReview.com is anonymous and did not even remove the 198 lb weight loss claim from their site after the pictures came out. I am writing this post to ask other bloggers to remove any outgoing links that they may have leading to KimkinsReview.com. If any readers are curious about the site, please look at it via archive.org.

Get Your Own Host
December 17, 2007 on 7:03 am | In Blogging, Business | No CommentsIf anything good has come out of the Kimkins saga, it may well be the introduction of the joy of blogging to several people who had never considered it before. I noticed that many of the blogs that really ran with the story used free hosts. This may have been out of frugality and/or convenience. I know that in the long run, you get what you pay for. A free host can delete your blog without notice. A free host comes with a lot of limitations. I recommend having your own domain and using a paid host. There is a host comparison site at http://www.webhostingchoice.com that can give you a run down of several different hosts. One useful page for newcomers gives tips on how to avoid being scammed by bad hosts. Apparently, some hosts put some dubious clauses in their contracts giving them rights that you would not agree to if you were to read it carefully and have some knowledge of the industry standards as they relate to bandwidth and other issues.
A High Ranking Source of Weight Loss Information
December 17, 2007 on 6:26 am | In Business, Weight Loss | No CommentsWeight Loss Lib is a multi author site that features articles about weight loss tips, strategies and a few articles that are basically inspirational in nature. I am not mentioning it because it is good or bad. I am mentioning it because it is the highest ranking commercial site for the search term weight loss. There are some errors in the English on some of the prominent text on the site. Most of the contributed articles are well written and link out to the authors’ site. There are a lot of ads on the site. It is not a totally junky site, but it’s main intention is clearly to generate advertising money for the owner. The contributing authors are willing to contribute original content in exchange for what some people call Google Juice.
Bad Credit Loans
December 13, 2007 on 4:12 pm | In Money, Business | No CommentsSites like BadCreditOffer.com offer consumers a way of comparing bad credit loans from multiple lenders. I am not in the market for a loan and I hope that I don’t have bad credit, but while I was looking around their site and I saw something that I should use. They offer a 30 day free trial service for checking your own credit report. If you are worried about identity theft, a review of your credit report is one of the first things that you should do. BadCreditOffer.com actually has links to trials from three competing services and one of them allows you to dispute inaccuracies on all 3 major reports.
Speaking of identity theft, please remember to be very cautious about how and where you use your credit card this holiday season. Don’t carelessly place credit card information in the garbage.
Kimkins Model Cloned
December 11, 2007 on 12:45 pm | In Technology, Health, Business, Low Carb Foods, Weight Loss | 1 CommentI am not going to link to the site that is being labeled as a clone of Kimkins. I will link to a page on a site that connects freelance sitebuilders to customers. The fact that the owner of the domain in question is asking for someone to clone Kimkins is confirmation of what the site is. Don’t worry, they didn’t clone Heidi. And even if they did, research has shown than personality is only about 50% genetic.
I am 99.9% sure that the site is in no way connected to Heidi Diaz.
Jared Fogle Today
December 8, 2007 on 7:19 pm | In Money, Business, Weight Loss | No CommentsJared Fogle weighed over 400 lbs when he was a high school student and was at one point warned that his extreme obesity put him at great risk. The warning about not living past 35 was a wake up call.
He profited from his successful weight loss in a unique and famous way. His actual plan was simple. It involved moderate intake of nutritious and satisfying food coupled with regular exercise. The unique part was that he ate food almost exclusively from a specific restaurant chain. His story was published locally and then republished as a part of a ‘Crazy Diets that Work’ article in a popular men’s magazine. At that point the local representatives of Subway took notice. An interesting part of this story is the reluctance by the chain’s lawyers to run with the campaign. They were concerned that there would be liability issues with promoting some sort of informal medical claim. When the nation people said no, the local advertising arm in Chicago went ahead with a TV ad in their region. It aired on the first day of 2000 and included this disclaimer:
“[The Subway diet], combined with a lot of walking, worked for Jared. We’re not saying this is for everyone. You should check with your doctor before starting any diet program. But it worked for Jared.”
The campaign went viral and Subway enjoyed two years of double digit market growth. I believe that aside from writing or co-writing a book or two, Jared has kept a pretty low profile aside from some funny cameo appearances on movies and TV.
Affordable Remote Access that Works
December 8, 2007 on 12:03 pm | In Business, Travel | No CommentsRemotePC.com has a free 30 day trial that is fully functional. I do not personally use any remote access program at this time, but I have in the past. Remote access to the PC that you are using to run a home business can be a Godsend when you are traveling. Even if the laptop that you travel with has room for all your business files, do you really want to be carrying all that important, private information around with you where it could easily get lost or stolen? The limitations and annoyances that I used to associate with the remote access I had three years ago are a thing of the past with RemotePC.com. You can expect to establish a connection in as little as 5 seconds. The tedious applet loading that I used to associate with remote use is not a issue with RemotePC.com. The service can even be used to have virtual meeting using the shared desktop feature.
Getting Business Loans Fast
December 5, 2007 on 3:45 pm | In Business | 1 CommentEZUnsecured.com is an online resource for people who are looking for fast, unsecured financing that they can use to advance their business plans. Sometimes opportunities don’t knock at all… they present themselves as a narrow window.
Business Loans from EZUnsecured.com are typically approved within 1-3 days and you can have cash in hand in a week. Web based businesses can have unique financing challenges. You hear about people getting big chunks of venture capital all the time, but they have probably been using other financial products to get to they point where they look good to the VC guys.
EZUnsecured.com deals in lump sum financing up to a million dollars.
