I have 12,000 comments held for moderation and they broke my SQL stuff. I will turn commenting back on when the mess is straightened out and I have a chance to activate some plugins.

It’s not like there is any shortage of places to discuss Kimkins.

Weight Loss Celebrity Blogger Holds Contest

June 16, 2008 on 2:11 pm | In Diet, Blogging, Weight Loss | No Comments

I don’t know if this successful dieter is a celebrity. I do know that the prizes are tempting, and the contest is very easy to enter for anyone with a blog. Check out the post at Half of Me. I am meeting the qualifications, but I have decided not to enter. This improves your chances :)

A Very Public Weight Loss Journey

March 18, 2008 on 8:33 pm | In Diet, Media, Blogging, Exercise, Internet, Technology, Weight Loss | No Comments

I was checking out YouTube for anything related to Kimkins just now. There wasn’t anything new on that front. I noticed that the surveillance video of Heidi has surpassed 10,000 views without any fanfare.

A few diet vLoggers have started adding kimkins as a keyword to unrelated videos, which is fine. This is how I discovered YvesMetamorphosis. Her weight loss journey is not a remarkable success or failure. She is not selling anything. What makes her channel worth mentioning is just the fact that it is a very public accounting of her 10 week effort. I wish her well.

Blogging About Kimkins

March 18, 2008 on 7:03 pm | In Blogging, Kimkins | No Comments

I haven’t been very active with my anti-kimkins blogging efforts lately. I think that giving a nod to the people who are still in the thick of things is the least that I can do to keep those search engine pages fair and balanced.

BamaGal is pretty busy over at Kimkins Scam. If you visit her site, be forewarned that there is a leprechaun shaking his naked butt on one of her March posts.

On a more serious note, Becky has recently published an Official Update on the Kimkins Case from John Tiedt.

Reaching Out

February 18, 2008 on 8:27 am | In Life, Blogging, Internet, Health, Weight Loss | No Comments

Blogs serve various purposes for various people. I became a bit upset when I recently saw a blog that was being used by someone with a serious eating disorder, possibly bulimia. Her profile information sounded positive and hopeful with regard to recovering, but her journal style entries were shocking details of an unhealthy relationship with food. The shield of anonymity prevents me from trying to help this person in any substantial way. If any of my readers think they have enough life experience and empathy to reach out to a binge and purge blogger, go to Egocidal.blogspot.com.

Counting Words

February 8, 2008 on 10:05 pm | In Blogging | No Comments

I like to know how many words I have written. Most serious word processing programs have a built in word counter. I keep telling myself that I should write my blog posts into Word rather than typing them right on my browser, but I never do. When it comes time to count the marvelous words that I have written, I use this handy page for counting words. I think that page must get a lot of traffic. I tried to embed the script ion a more convenient place, but it wouldn’t work for me :(

Alcohol

February 7, 2008 on 9:44 pm | In Life, Blogging, Kimkins, Heidi Diaz, Kimmer | No Comments

There is anecdotal evidence and some hearsay that Heidi Diaz struggles with alcoholism. Her recent blog post about alcohol speaks volumes by saying almost nothing at all. There are carbs in alcoholic drinks. That is true, but there is also alcohol. Alcohol is a mind altering and addictive substance. If there is one aspect of this woman that gets my unadulterated sympathy it is the drinking.

For people without issues related to alcohol (extending to family members as well), consider drinking 1 glass of red wine several days per week. It has been shown to benefit blood cholesterol ratios.

Time Management

I mentioned earlier this week that I plan to start working out. This is going to require spending less time on other things. Blogging will be one of those things. There’s a bit of an anti-climax going on with the whole controversy as it is. Or it could be the calm before the storm, who really knows. The last lawsuit that I has a tangential connection with dragged on for a very long time without any resolution. Most civil proceedings that I hear about but have no connection with are usually forgotten about completely before there is an outcome.

A Lawyer’s Blog

Blogs can serve as a promotional tool for various professionals. Many readers of Kimkins Controversy check with the blog of a certain Los Angeles area PI from time to time. Pictured above is Dmitry Gorin. He maintains a Los Angeles Criminal Defense Attorney Blog | California Criminal Law Forum. He offers his expert commentary on some high profile cases and he also writes about various defense strategies, citing past cases as examples. Dmitry Gorin is a former Los Angeles Prosecutor, and in addition to his current law practice, he lectures at UCLA.

Have I Mentioned that I Hate SPAM?

February 6, 2008 on 2:58 pm | In Blogging, Internet | No Comments

Back when the Kimkins ebook was released, it was mentioned on Kimkins Exposed that some spam emails were longer than the 2000+ words that Heidi Diaz bestowed upon her loyal subjects. I have been getting really long, really porny comment spam lately. I decided to do a word count on one of them and the tally was over 5000. Thank goodness for moderation. If you ever have an important comment to make about the Kimkins Controversy, make sure it does not include thousands of dirty words, because I get so much spam that I skim through it rather than reading for context.
