Don’t Knock Investment Opportunity

February 5, 2008 on 8:22 pm | In Internet, Business | No Comments

The internet has had a catalytic effect on relationships of all sorts. Personal relationships, whether casual or intimate are almost too easy to initiate. This has caused some social upheaval (or at least turbo-charged the same kind of upheavals that have always been part of society).

Idea oriented people with Investment opportunities can connect with people who want to make their money work for them quite easily as well. Go4Funding.com is a site that brings people together for mutual benefit in much the same way that a personals site works.

I was shocked to see a section where people presented business ideas in order to get feedback from other members. I am always scared to share any idea that I have on the internet for fear of having it stolen. Even if you don’t quite fall into either category of person for which the site is intended, it is still quite an interesting read.

The Biggest Losers

These girls from Diet.com were cheering on the losing team. There are some nasty comments on this video, but they are predominantly about football for a change. I tend to jump in and defend YouTube personalities against the horrible personal attacks that they typically endure, and I don’t make an exception for these women, but I do find them kind of annoying. I personally don’t think that creating pale imitations of the high calorie snacks that we should just give up on is a very good WOE either. That’s just my opinion. I an unbiased when it comes to the SuperBowl. I’m am glad that it was exciting in comparison to some past years.

RAM, Have You Ever DIY?

February 5, 2008 on 6:19 pm | In Life | 1 Comment

It was back around the turn of the century when I had my first experience with sticking a RAM upgrade into a slot inside a personal computer. I was worried that I wasn’t doing it right at first. You have to push pretty hard before the card snaps into place. Once it was in and I was able to start up and see that it was functioning, I had an amazing feeling of accomplishment.

Some people like that feeling so much that they want to get DIY PC Kits so that they can assemble their own computer. I haven’t ever done that, but I have installed several upgrades over the years.

You can actually save quite a bit of money by building a PC yourself from quality components. I think a big part of it is that you aren’t getting a package with various components that you don’t really need. They other thing that you aren’t paying for is branding, retail expenses and of course the cost of assembly. All you need is a screwdriver and just a little patience.

Where are All the Pro-Kimkins Blogs?

February 3, 2008 on 11:03 am | In Diet, Blogging, Internet, Kimkins | No Comments

If you perform a Google Blog Search for the term Kimkins, you see that the only kimkins supporter on the first page is, well, Heidi Diaz. Heidi has more than one blog, but the only item on the front page is form the subdirectory of her website.

I found an article from some LawyersAndSettlements.com a few pages in that looks interesting.

I think that blogs rank higher in this search when there are frequent and recent posts related to the search term. Heidi’s blogspot blog shows up on page six of the search.

A New Weightloss Device

I tagged this post with the term weight loss surgery, but this device is actually put in place without surgery. It is a very simple idea. The Endobarrier is a liner for the first 24 inches of a patients lower intestine. It is put in place endoscopically and is easily reversible.

Right now, the trial procedures are being done on people who are scheduled for gastric bypass. There is already some data showing that it works. I assume that patients need to supplement some nutrients and vitamins. I had a misconception corrected while fact checking. I had assumed that there was some amount of absorption of simple sugars in the stomach, but most sources say that water and alcohol are the only things that are absorbed in significant amounts by the stomach.

Afforable Health Insurance

February 2, 2008 on 1:02 am | In Health, Business | No Comments

Canadians and Americans talk to each other quite a bit online on forums and such. I have noticed that there are occasionally threads that get of on a tangent about health care and especially insurance. Often you can read threads where it is obvious that people are confused and have no idea what the other people are talking about. The Canadian system is unique and individuals and small businesses need unique products like the PHSP from BrockHealth.ca. It allows you to pay all your medical expenses tax-free. Americans sometimes have the misconception that Canadians just don’t pay for medical expenses. It is much more complicated than that, and don’t even get me started on kids dental expenses. A Private Health Services Plan covers the majority of things that are not taken care of by our highly overrated (by some) system.

Page Rank

February 2, 2008 on 12:49 am | In Internet, Kimkins | 3 Comments

Kimkins has a Google page rank of 3. Many of the upstart blogs criticizing the site have a PR of 4.

Google uses a largely secret algorithm to determine these numbers. Some people say that they put ten cats in a wet cardboard box and then go for a short coffee break. When they come back, they give your site a page rank based on the number of cats remaining in the box. Or maybe it’s the number that got out. Hey, I am not a software engineer.

Hooker Furniture

February 1, 2008 on 1:26 pm | In Life, Decor | No Comments

I have hear of Shaker furniture before, but up until today, I had never heard of hooker furniture. Hooker is actually a company name and they have been in business for 83 years. That means they started building fine furniture 50 years before the term hooker appeared in the title of a famous movie that was not about furniture making.

Great Priced Furniture is a website where you can search for the perfect pieces of furniture to suit your taste and lifestyle. Hooker furniture has responded to the popularity of large plasma screen televisions by making entertainment consoles that have classic styling, but with dimensions that are updated to match these larger televisions.

Another great furniture builder is Stanley. You should check out their Young America line. I really like the trundle beds.

Good News about Weight Loss

February 1, 2008 on 7:01 am | In Diet, Life, Exercise, Health, Kimkins, Weight Loss, Kimkins Diet | No Comments

There is good news this morning. A medical study has concluded that moderate weight loss in overweight adults improves heart health. It further indicated that the benefit was there whether you chose diet, exercise or a combination. The best part of this is that benefits are immediate and apparent. People who know that they need to lose several pounds do not seem to take late onset diabetes and high blood pressure as a call to action. If you are conclusively told that you will feel younger if you lose weight, is that enough motivation?

Share Your Vacation

February 1, 2008 on 12:05 am | In Life, Travel | No Comments

There are too many general social networking sites. The next generation of social networking sites are very much niche sites. I have heard about sites that are like social networking for your pets. I just finished looking at a site that has a social networking component for planning and documenting family vacations. I think that is kind of cool. WeNeedAVacation.com also has listings for vacation destinations like these Panama City vacation rentals. Panama City is in Coastal Florida. It’s supposed to be sunny and mild for the next two days in Panama City.

The website had a photo contest last vacation season and this video shows a montage of some of the best entries…
